An unusual beautiful combination in Decatur, GA

FullSizeRender-2The Agnes Scott College Kirk Concert and Master Class Series is excited to present the Richter Uzur Duo this Saturday, October 24, 2015.

Not many musical pieces have been written for classical guitar and cello, and that is just fine with Brad Richter and Viktor Uzur, who enjoy taking a blank canvas and creating their own compositions to play. Or they also will mash up existing songs.

Founded in 2005, the Richter Uzur Duo plays a whimsical mixture of classical, world, and rock music. The Duo consists of Viktor Uzur and Brad Richter. Viktor received his Bachelor and Master’s degree from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and is currently the cello professor at Weber State University. Brad Richter, at age 19, received the Presidential Scholarship to the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, where he began performing and composing. He then attended the Royal College of Music in London. He is an avid composer and also performs around North America and Europe.

The Richter-Uzur Duo has played hundreds of concerts in North America, South America, Europe and Asia and has a widening circle of communities around the globe that invite them back again and again. In the U.S. the duo is perhaps best known through its regular appearances on NPR’s Performance Today — North America’s most listened to classical music program — and frequent national and international broadcasts on the Armed Forces Radio Network and programs such as PBS’s WoodSongs and NPR’s Classical Guitar Alive, which named their debut CD ‘Best New Release’ in 2010.
